The Three Little Pigs

Read the complete story of The Three Little Pigs, a classic children’s tale about effort, responsibility, and the importance of doing things with care and dedication.

Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who lived happily in the forest with their mother. The three of them had grown up, and one day they decided it was time to build their own houses and live on their own.

Before saying goodbye, their mother gave them a very important piece of advice:

“My children, remember that a fierce wolf lives in the forest. Build your houses carefully and with effort so you will always be protected.”

The three little pigs promised to be very careful and set off on their way.

The first little pig was very cheerful, but also a little lazy. He wanted to finish his house as quickly as possible so he could play, sing, and rest. So he decided to build a little house of straw.

“Straw is light and easy to put in place,” he said happily. “I’ll have my house finished in no time.”

And so he did. In a very short time, the first little pig finished his house of straw and began playing his flute, happy to have finished so quickly.

The second little pig did not want to work too hard either. He thought a wooden house would be a little stronger than one made of straw, but still quick to build.

“With a few logs and branches, I’ll have a wonderful house,” he said.

He worked for a while, and when he finished his wooden house, he went off to play with his younger brother.

The third little pig, however, was patient and hardworking. He knew that building a good house took time, but he also knew it was important to be safe.

“I will build my house out of bricks,” he said. “It will take more effort, but it will be strong and sturdy.”

His brothers laughed at him.

“You’ll take forever!” said the first little pig.

“We’ve already finished, and now we can play,” added the second.

But the third little pig did not let them change his mind. He kept laying brick after brick, carefully building the walls, the door, the windows, and a strong chimney.

Hours passed, and at last his house was finished. It was a beautiful, solid, and safe house.

One day, while the little pigs were resting, the Big Bad Wolf appeared. He was very hungry, and when he saw the little house of straw, he slowly came closer.

He knocked on the door and said in a deep voice:

“Little pig, little pig, let me come in.”

The first little pig, frightened, answered:

“No, no, no! I will not let you in!”

Then the wolf showed his teeth and said:

“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down.”

The wolf took a deep breath, blew with all his might, and the little house of straw flew through the air.

The first little pig ran as fast as he could to his brother’s wooden house.

Soon after, the wolf arrived at the second house too.

The two little pigs ran together to their older brother’s brick house, where they finally found shelter.

The wolf tried to knock down the solid brick house by blowing again and again, but he could not move even a single brick.

Furious, he decided to climb down the chimney. However, the third little pig had prepared a large pot over the fire right beneath it.

The wolf fell down the chimney, felt the intense heat, and ran away in terror into the forest, never bothering the three brothers again.

The two younger pigs then understood the valuable lesson their older brother had tried to teach them.

“You were right,” they said. “Doing things quickly and without effort is not always best.”

The third little pig smiled and hugged them.

From then on, the three little pigs lived happily and safely, always remembering that hard work, patience, and responsibility help overcome any difficulty.

And they all lived happily ever after.
